
A former Big Run Borough Council member has reportedly confessed to stealing $5,000 from the Big Run War Memorial Fund.
The Punxsy Spirit reports that 67-year-old Bonita “Bonnie” Kay Haugh of Punxsutawney is facing one felony count of theft by deception. Haugh is accused of intentionally obtaining or withholding property and misappropriating checks belonging to the Big Run War Memorial Fund over a period of several years after an investigation that began in 2019.
A preliminary hearing is set for May 25.

Police say a Punxsutawney woman was injured in a crash that occurred in Pine Township of Jefferson County last week.
State Police in Clearfield say the accident happened on April 22 on Rockton Mountain Highway near US 322 when a vehicle driven by 26-year-old Kyrie Mohr slid off the ice-covered roadway and overturned.
She suffered suspected minor injuries and was transported to Penn Highlands Hospital by Clearfield EMS.
