
A tractor-trailer struck a utility pole Wednesday and knocked down several power lines during a hit-and-run crash in Brookville Borough.
The Punxsy Spirit reports that the power lines running to Plyler’s Car Wash, located along Main Street in Brookville, started smoldering.
Fire officials said in a Facebook post that the wood underneath the aluminum siding on the building created a dangerous situation as the building was being electrically charged.
Once Penelec arrived and cut the power, crews were able to contain the fire to one corner of the roof with minimal fire damage.

State Police in Punxsutawney responded to the scene of a reported hit-and-run crash in Rose Township of Jefferson County on Wednesday.
Troopers say the crash occurred on Belgiumtown Road near Tunnel Hill Road when and unknown vehicle traveled of the road’s shoulder, struck two garbage cans, and two metal hand rails outside of a Belgiumtown Road residence.
Police say the driver kept going and did not stop to notify the property owner.
Police not that it is unknown if the driver was injured during the incident.
