Rebecca Phillips of Clarion is up on felony drug and contraband charges after allegedly smuggling Suboxone in to the Clarion County jail.
Charges come after an incident in August when an inmate who had been there for some time began acting strangely and may have taken a controlled substance. The inmate had gotten Phillips as a cellmate the day before. The inmate refused a drug test and Phillips was taken to the intake area. Another inmate wrote a letter stating that Phillips had drugs inside her person.
Phillips when confronted, first denied but then said she did indeed have suboxone in her “private area” and gave her cellmate some because she felt sorry for her. Phillips removed the drugs and remains in custody.
She has a preliminary hearing on Tuesday with Judge Schill.
