Searchers failed to find a missing Punxsutawney man yesterday along the Kiski River in Leechburg.
38-year-old Nathan Lauer went missing from a camp in Gilpin Township, Armstrong County sometime Saturday morning. One of the two men with whom he was camping contacted state police in Kittanning on Saturday, telling them he’d last seen Lauer swimming in the Allegheny River at about 7:30 AM.
Police identify Lauer’s companions only by their last names, Altman and Means. Altman said the three had been drinking throughout the night and he’d gone to sleep, awakening later to find both Means and Lauer gone. Police were able to contact Means but not Lauer.
Search teams will resume looking for Lauer today. He is white, about 5 feet 11 inches tall and 200 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes. He was wearing only black shorts and black sneakers when last seen.
