The Brookville Municipal Authority released a boil water alert that went into effect at 1:00 pm. Yesterday, May 24 for customers starting at Mendenhall Road to the end of the line in Corsica.
According to the Authority’s website, boil alerts last for a minimum of three days to satisfy DEP testing results. Any water to be consumed should be brought to a rolling boil, boiled for one minute, and cooled before using — or use bottled water. You should use boiled or bottled water for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and food preparation until the alert is lifted. Remember to turn off automatic ice makers – dishwashers should not be used at this time. Water for showers/baths, watering plants, washing clothes, and mopping floors does not need to be boiled.
If you have questions, call the Brookville Municipal Authority’s Office at 814-849-5320.
