Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati has never been kind to the Pirates, and it turned nasty for the Bucs again last night in their rain-delayed series opener against the Reds.
Joe Block has the recap.
Yoshi Tsutsugo continues to swing a hot bat for the Pirates. He was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs last night and is hitting .306 with eight home runs and 21 RBI in 31 games since joining the Pirates. Manager Derek Shelton says Yoshi fits right in to the Pirates lineup.
Pitcher Bryse Wilson’s season is over after he was placed on the 60-day injured list with a left hamstring injury. He hurt himself over the weekend running the bases against the Marlins. The Pirates put catcher Jacob Stallings on the seven-day concussion list and called up journeyman catcher Taylor Davis from Indianapolis.
As expected, the Pirates promoted eight members of the Altoona Curve to Triple-A Indianapolis for the final ten games of the minor league season. Infielders Oneil Cruz, Mason Martin, and Rodolfo Castro will be joined in Indy by outfielders Cal Mitchell and Canaan Smith-Njigba, and pitchers Roansy Contreras, Yerry De Los Santos, and Osvaldo Bido.
