The Pennsylvania Department of Health monitors influenza activity, and conducts laboratory testing.
For the 2022-2023 season, the flu surveillance began back on Oct. 10, and will run through May 20, of next year. So far, a total of 144,023 laboratory-confirmed influenza cases have been reported with 36 confirmed deaths.
Looking at local counties: Jefferson has 665 cases, Indiana 707, Clarion 327 and Clearfield County with the most so far 1289.
