
A car traveling on Route 28 swerved to avoid a head-on collision and struck an embankment on Tuesday.
DuBois State police report 22 year old Keristen Walter of Reynoldsville was driving north on Route 28 near Grapevine Lane, Warsaw Township in Jefferson County when she swerved to avoid hitting an on-coming car that had entered her lane.
Police say the car, described as a newer model, white Chevy Cruze, continued on without stopping. Authorities say Walter
avoided a head-on collision, but she hit an embankment and a barbed wire fence.
The police report minor injuries to one passenger, 21 year old Devin Joiner, also from Reynoldsville, and no injuries to Walter or the other passenger.
Anyone with information on the Cruze believed to be involved in this crash is asked to call the State Police in DuBois at 814 371 4652.

An investigation was launched after a person was denied the purchase of a gun in Clearfield County.
Punxsutawney State Police say, back in November of this year, a suspect attempted to buy a rifle on East Main Street in Bell Township and was denied after a Pennsylvania Instant Check System showed the person was prohibited from purchasing a firearm.
No further information was made available as the investigation continues.

On Christmas eve, State Police in Punxsutawney investigated a suicide attempt by a 45 year old female from Summerville.
According to the report, the woman had ingested prescription drugs and was transported to Clarion Hospitals Emergency Room for treatment.

Ongoing retail theft from a Brookville hardware store occurred between July and December of this year.
Brookville Borough Police report a former employee of a hardware store in Brookville had used a business account for more than $1,700 in purchases. Authorities say a warrant was issued and the male was taken into custody in Reynoldsville Borough.
No further information was given.

A man from Brookville faces a possible DUI and fleeing the scene charges.
Brookville police say, on December 21st, they were attempting to stop a vehicle for minor traffic violations and the driver continued on for approximately a mile before coming to a stop. The 45 year old male was taken into custody and was believed to be under the influence of alcohol.
No additional information was given.

A Brockway male was arrested for DUI in DuBois on Saturday.
A traffic violation was reported to the DuBois State Police, and authorities say they stopped the vehicle and noticed an odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. The report says the driver, a 21 year old male from Brockway had failed a field sobriety check and was taken into Penn Highlands DuBois for a blood alcohol test.
The investigation is ongoing.

On Christmas Eve, a traffic stop tuned into a DUI, although authorities give few details.
State Police in Indiana report a 20 old man was driving on Route 110 in White Township, Indiana County, just after eight o’clock on Monday night and was pulled over for a traffic violation. Authorities say he was suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Charges are pending blood analysis.
