Former DuBois city manager John “Herm” Suplizio and city employee Roberta Shaffer are facing new federal charges for allegedly conspiring to steal $1.5 million in city funds.
According to WJAC News, originally charged in November 2023 for misappropriating $700,000, the pair now face counts of conspiracy, federal program fraud, and money laundering. Investigators claim they funneled city funds into personal accounts for cash withdrawals, credit card payments, and vacations. With the latest charges, Suplizio and Shaffer could face up to 10 years in prison and significant fines.
