The Steelers have already started making roster moves in advance of Sunday’s game against the New York Jets, and one of them might signal good news for the outside linebacking corps.
Ade Ogundeji was released from the active roster and will likely be re-signed to the practice squad. He was on the field for sixteen plays on Sunday against the Raiders. Alex Highsmith returned to practice late last week on a limited basis and the move might be an indication that he is ready to return to the lineup.
Also yesterday, the Steelers signed wide receiver Lance McCutcheon to their practice squad and released wide receiver Jaray Jenkins from the practice squad.
Citing an unnamed source, FOX Sports Insider Jordan Schultz reported last night that rookie center Zach Frazier is considered “week-to-week” with his ankle injury, with no structural damage. Frazier was injured in the third quarter on Sunday in Las Vegas.
Coach Mike Tomlin will hold his weekly media appearance today at noon.
Sunday night’s opponent, the Jets, were beaten by Buffalo last night, 23-20. It was their third straight loss and put them at 2-4 for the season.
