A Mahaffey man, 60-year-old Ricky Allen Daisher, was sentenced to two years of probation and fined $500 for his role in the shooting and neglect of a dog named Duke last November.
GantNews.com reports, despite protests from animal advocacy group Animals Matter, the court upheld a plea deal that dropped felony charges. Daisher is prohibited from owning animals during his probation. The case, which involved Daisher, his daughter, and a juvenile, drew significant public outcry. Separate charges against the juvenile and Daisher’s daughter, the dog’s owner, are still pending.
