William H. “Pop” Carney, 83, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
William was born in Brush Valley on April 8, 1941, to Dwight and Dorothy Carney (Foster).
After getting an associated degree in drafting, William married the late Cheryl K. McQuown. He worked for many places, including FMC, Fisher Scientific, Electro-Mec, and finally retiring from S&T Bank. William was a man who enjoyed many things including hunting, campfires, homemade goodies such as pies and other sweets. While he enjoyed many things, he loved his family. He loved going on family beach trips, and he loved spending time with his grandkids.
William is survived by two children, Doug Carney (Donna), Glen Campbell, and Beth Isenberg (Rich), Clymer; six grandchildren, Matthew Carney (Ashley), Amanda Holodnik (Andrew), Whitney Carney, Zayne Carney (Caite), Hayden Isenberg and Mason Isenberg; eight great grandchildren; one sister, Gayle Machey (John), Virginia; his fiancé Carol “Cookie” Michaels and her daughter Kim Fugate (Joel); and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Cheryl K. McQuown and one son, William Scott Carney.
A private memorial will be held for the family at a later date.
