Children who are in Pennsylvania illegally, are finding themselves in court without lawyers.
Nearly 600 children in Pennsylvania, many fleeing abuse or persecution, are facing immigration court without legal representation due to recent federal funding cuts.
Cathryn Miller-Wilson of HIAS Pennsylvania says funding stopped abruptly four weeks ago, leaving attorneys unable to assist children in shelters across the state. A lawsuit has temporarily restored services until a hearing on April 16 determines if the order will become permanent.
