If you’re thinking about traveling to next-door Ohio to purchase alcohol, think again.
An order issued Monday by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine bars the sale of booze to out-of-state residents, with an emphasis on Pennsylvanians. Liquor stores in counties along the Ohio-Pennsylvania border will be required to check ID’s to slow the flow of people who cross state lines for their whiskey, vodka and gin.
The exodus was created, in part, by the shutdown of liquor stores in Pennsylvania. Despite the closures, Pennsylvanians can still order their booze online and have it delivered, and private distilleries are still open.
