GENERAL CONTEST RULES
1. No purchase necessary. Contests are void where prohibited.
2. WPXZ/WKQL/WECZ will announce when the contest or promotion begins and ends.
a. Listen to the stations for details on how to participate. For contests utilizing entry forms, entries must be filled out completely. Only one name per entry is permitted. Official entry blanks must be used; photocopies are ineligible.
b. For phone-in contests: The stations are not responsible for any telephone malfunctions or problems affecting a contestant’s attempts to call the station within the required time.
c. For contest entries via mail: the stations are not responsible for lost, stolen, mutilated, wrongly-delivered, postage due, illegible, or untimely entries.
d. For digital contest entries: the stations are not responsible for entries not received due to difficulty accessing the internet, service outages or delays, computer difficulties, or other technical glitches.
4. Contests are generally open to all station listeners who are U.S. residents, 18 years of age or older and who reside in the greater Pittsburgh metropolitan area. Employees of Renda Broadcasting Corporation, Renda Radio and their stations, employees of all other Jefferson County market media companies including radio stations, their affiliated entities, affiliated advertising agencies, participating sponsors/promotional partners, and members of their immediate families are ineligible to participate or win.
5. Listeners are eligible to win a station contest only once every 30 days; and a prize valued at $600 or more only once every 6 months. Only one winner per household is permitted in any contest. Any prize not claimed within 90 days of winning will be forfeited by the winner–unless prize is not yet available.
6. For digital contests: To enter on-line you must complete each required field on the on-line entry form.
7. Some prizes, or prize certificates, must be picked up at the offices of the station at 904 N. Main Street, Punxsutawney, PA. Any prize or prize certificate not claimed within 90 days of winning will be forfeited by the winner. In the event that a prize or prize certificate is mailed to the winner, winner will be informed that the prize will be sent. In that case, therefore, winner assumes the risk of prize arrival. The station is not responsible for the safe arrival of a prize or prize certificate. The station assumes no liability for prizes, including tickets to concerts and/or events that are cancelled or postponed by any promoter or artist. The station assumes no liability for gift certificates for products or services that are no longer available and/or being offered, (as in the case of a restaurant or merchant going out of business after the contest airs on the station). The station will not offer substitute prizes.
8. Prize Winners may pick up prizes at WPXZ/WKQL/WECZ – 904 N. Main Street, Punxsutawney, PA. during station office hours:
Monday – Friday – 8 am – 5 pm
9. Listen to the stations for details on grand prize or contest prizes and their values. All other incidental expenses associated with the grand prize are the sole responsibility of the winner. Prizes are non-transferable. Prizes may not be substituted for or redeemed for cash. There are no substitutions.
10. Listen to the stations for information on selection of prize winners and/or grand prize winner, if applicable.
11. Payment of all federal, state and local taxes are the sole responsibility of the winner. Winner will be issued an IRS Form 1099 (or the equivalent) for any prize valued at $600 or more.
12. By participating in the contest, the winner or winners (and their guest or traveling companion, if any) agree to have their name, voice, or likeness used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this contest, without additional financial or other compensation, and to sign a publicity release prior to acceptance of the prize.
13. Contest winners (and their guests or travel companions, if any) will be required to sign a liability release prior to acceptance of any prize valued at $600.00 or greater or which prize includes the provision of transportation, whether or not such transportation is provided by the station. Pursuant to the liability release, the winner(s) will agree to hold the station, Renda Broadcasting Corporation, their affiliated companies and the officers, shareholders, directors, employees, agents and representatives of each of them harmless against any and all claims or liability arising directly or indirectly from the prize or participation in the contest.
14. For digital contests: the station, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process, the operation of the station’s website (wshh.com), or who is otherwise in violation of the rules. The station further reserves the right to cancel, terminate or modify any contest if it is not capable of completion as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention or technical failures of any sort.
15. Prizes won from WPXZ/WKQL/WECZ are not for resale and are non-transferable. Violators of this rule will forfeit their opportunity to win future contests held by WPXZ/WKQL/WECZ. Enforcement of this rule is at the discretion of WPXZ/WKQL/WECZ.
16. For Text to Win Contests: Contestants have 10 minutes to respond with name or other requested information otherwise the prize is forfeited and station may pick another contestant.
17. The station reserves the right to make changes in the rules of the contest, which will become effective upon announcement, including the substitution of a prize or any portion of a prize of equivalent value.
18. The station is not responsible for typographical or other errors in the printing, The offering or the administration of the contest or in the announcement of a prize.
19. All decisions by sweepstakes promoters are final and entrants agree to be bound by decisions made by sweepstakes promoters and station management.
20. Failure to comply with the contest rules may result in a contestant’s disqualification, at the sole discretion of the station.
21. Copies of the written contest rules are available during regular business hours, at WPXZ/WKQL/WECZ – Renda Radio– 904 N. Main Street, Punxsutawney, PA.. Interested parties may also request a copy of the rules, in writing, utilizing a self-addressed stamped envelope (at same address).
RENDA BROADCASTING CORPORATION AND AFFILIATED COMPANIES
$1,000 THURSDAY CONTEST AND OTHER GROUP CONTEST RULES
Renda Broadcasting Corporation, its subsidiaries and affiliated companies and stations (the company) will conduct a text to win contest known as “Thousand Dollar Thursday” or other group contest (the contest) concurrently and simultaneously on several participating radio stations in various states. The contests may air on all or just select Renda Broadcasting Corporation stations.

The contest is open to residents of the United States of America and must reside in the Total Survey Area (TSA) of one of the stations conducting the contest.
Contestants must be at least 18 years of age.
Employees of Renda Broadcasting Corporation and affiliated companies, its stations, employees of all other stations and market media companies in the TSA’s of the stations conducting the contests are neither eligible to participate nor win. This includes radio and television stations, their affiliated entities, affiliated advertising agencies, participating sponsors and or promotional partners, and members of their immediate families.
To enter, participants will listen to one of the participating radio stations over the air for the cue to text near the top of every hour from 8 AM to 4 PM, then text the designated keyword to 6-8-6-8-3 within 15 minutes to be entered into the daily drawing. Standard text and data rates apply.
The participating stations will announce, on the air, a “cue to text,” when each contest begins. As an example: “time to help you pay off some of those holiday bills with $500 cash! Just text (keyword) within 15 minutes to 6-8-6-8-3 for a chance to win today’s prize of $500 in this company-wide contest.
Contestants are only eligible to participate if they, or an immediately family member living in the same household, have not won any prize on any participating Renda Broadcasting station and affiliated owned stations in the 30 days prior to the current contest day. Additionally, contestants, or an immediate family member living in the same household, are not eligible to participate if they have won a major contest prize (valued $500 or more) in 6 months prior to the current contest day. Qualified participants, and anyone living in the same household, are only eligible to win the Thousand Dollar Thursday or other company-wide contest once each calendar year.
One contestant selected at random will be contacted by phone and text. They will have 10 minutes to call us back on our designated contest line. If they fail to call us, we will move on to next random contestant.
They will then be verified as qualified by station personnel answering the designated contest number. To be qualified, the contestant must be able to clearly identify the station in which they are listening; either by call letters, slogan-identifier, or frequency. If the contestant cannot identify the station, they will be disqualified.
There will be only one grand prize winner of each contest conducted.
Since this is a text to win contest, a phone with text capability is needed to participate. Participants are restricted to the use of ordinary telephone equipment. Participants who enable the “Caller ID” block function will not be allowed to participate unless they enter their correct area code and telephone number if prompted, or disable the features inhibiting their participation in the contest. The company disclaims all liability for the inability of a participant to complete or continue a telephone call due to equipment malfunction, busy lines, inadvertent disconnections, acts beyond the company’s control or otherwise. For all contests, the company disclaims all liability for any delays, misdelivery, loss, or failure in the delivery of any item sent by electronic transmission or other delivery method. The company is not responsible for mechanical, technical, electronic, communications, telephone, computer, hardware or software errors and/or malfunctions or failures of any kind including: failed, incomplete, garbled, or delayed transmission of telephone calls, traffic congestion on telephone lines, or unavailable connections which may limit one’s ability to participate in the contest, any injury or damage to the entrant’s or any other person’s telephone equipment related to or resulting from participating in the contest.
Payment of all federal, state, and local taxes is the sole responsibility of the winner. The winner will be issued an IRS Form 1099 (or equivalent) if grand prize is valued at over $600.
